Company History

Carpigiani was formed in 1946 with the goal of producing and marketing the first automatic machine to make hard ice cream: the Autogelatiera. In the 1950's Carpigiani grew substantially, opening offices in France, Germany, and Japan; in 1964, the company opened facilities in New York, under the branded equipment name of Coldelite.

Carpigiani’s outstanding success led the company to begin developing new machines for production of gourmet gelato, ice cream, soft serve, hot and cold drinks, shakes and slush. Our equipment lineup now includes whip cream machines, the best quality display cabinets on the market, equipment for chocolate tempering, ganache, poached fruit, pastry cream, and much more.

In 1991, The company moved to Winston-Salem, NC, its current headquarters. In 2000, Coldelite adopted the original company name, becoming known as Carpigiani Corporation of America.

Successes in research, development, application of new technologies and the launching of new products and services in the international arena has made Carpigiani the largest and best known manufacturer of frozen dessert equipment worldwide. Carpigiani is the only company in its field that produces and markets a complete line of fully approved products globally.
